How it Works & Pricing
For Designers
Designerholic is a contest listing site that allows you to choose a contest that
appeals to you, and you can create designs and enter them as many times as you like
free of charge. The Contest Holder will provide feedback and this will allow you
to create designs that the Contest Holder wants. He may also give "star" ratings
to your designs so that you know out of 5 how good he thinks your design is. If
you are chosen as the winner of the contest, you simply need to upload your designs,
sign over the copyright, and Designerholic will pay you the prize money!
Designerholic is currently paying designers via PayPal and Money Bookers only.
For Business Owners
Designerholic was designed to make it cheap and easy to start a design contest.
All you need is to know what you want designed and how much money you want to
spend on it.
For example, say you would like a brand new logo for your business. You know that
to get some really good designers interested, you are going to spend $300 on the
prize money. So you start a contest
in 6 easy steps.
The 6 easy Steps to Start a Contest
- You select the type of contest - so in this case you chose a logo contest.
- TThe Designerholic website helps you to create a good brief for the designers
to follow. So you are asked to enter the title of the contest. Because you want
to get attention, you call your contest something that will stand out. You then
add a quick description for those designers that
don't read entire briefs (yes there
are some!), and you also can add your company/logo name.
- You then need to type out a description of what you want done. So you enter
what you want, why you want it, who is your target audience and so on. We then
ask you what you like in a design and you can even specify other peoples designs
that you admire to give the designers a head start on the type of style that
appeals to you. We also ask you what you DONT like, so be prepared to list ugly designs
so the designers know what NOT to do.
- You are now asked how much money you want to spend as prize money. You realise that
if you put the minimum amount for a contest, you will get entries, but it may not
attract the great designers that only enter contests that are worth
their time. You can then specify the timeframe of the contest. 7 Days is the average
contest time, but if you feel you would like more time than 7 days, you can select
up to 21 days or as little as 4 days if you want to fast track it.
- You will be asked to confirm your contest details and make sure everything is correct./li>
- Once you are happy with your brief, you then pay the listing fee, the prize money
and any extras you added. Once you pay the amount, your contest is then ready and
open for entries!
Once the contest is running
Once the contest is running, you will need to check entries daily
and provide both written and "star" feedback for the designers so they know what
direction you want to take them. This step is probably the most important part of
the success of your contest. They may also ask questions in the free comment forum you get
with your contest, so be sure to check all the latest comments.
Choosing a winner
Once your contest Once your contest has expired, designers are no longer allowed to add an entry,
and you will need to decide who created the winning design (you can also chose the
winner before the contest expires if you choose). When you choose the winning design,
you need to allow the designer some time to create the high resolution design files
you may need, and to upload them to your account for you to download. You then have
complete design source files in as little as a week for a fraction of the price
of a design studio!
