Could you provide some images from your business? Or you settle with stock images?
Thanks, eMp

13 months ago: I really like this design. The introduction of green to the colours works well. It is clean and easy to get around. I would like to incorporate our logo somehow so I need to send that to you. I'm not sure if you can access is from the Designerhoic site? I like the New TO Polo button because that gives someone who might be otherwise intimidated a place to start.

13 months ago: Sorry didn't realise you had a logo until after I'd submitted it! I'll do a revision after the weekend and add the logo in. Anything else you'd like to see differently?
Thanks, AJ

13 months ago: Hi there, is it just a home page that is required for starters? Most projects for web I get involved with start with home page visual, and then once that is approved I move on to another page? Is this the same concept or do you have to supply all apges upon entry?

13 months ago: Hi Yikes, A designerholic web contest is for 1 page only. So while a designer is only required to submit 1 homepage design, the contest holder may ask for a concept of a second page, but it is up to the designers decision whether or not they will provide a second page.

13 months ago: No offence to your design sgd, but large photographic backgrounds are generally considered web-unfriendly... just interested to know how you'd address that?

If you'd like to give any of the designs a bit more feedback... what you like and don't like... we'd be able to improve them much more! Thanks :)

13 months ago: hi there Fuzzyllama,
Thanks for your concern.
No that's not the case anymore. Large backgrounds have become very popular in the web design community. Technically it's not a problem. The content area is a fixed width. The image is a background image so the user only sees as much as the browser window allows, and can look really cool. Of the course the image needs to be prepared properly so it doesn't take forever to download.
you can see some awesome examples of large background sites here: http://www.webdesignerwall.com/trends/80-large-background-websites/
For example this one looks really nice:

Take care!

13 months ago: Number 54 s still my favorite. The colours are great. The page is fresh, simple, clear and easy to navigate. It also has a friendly feel which the other entires lack. The only addition I would like to that design is the arrow off our logo in the right hand corner -instead of the QPA logo. If the arrow could be metallic looking even better.
My main criticism of the other entries are they are too standard - what i mean by that is they look like most other websites and as I mentioned above they seem impersonal. Our business is friendly and welcoming. While polo as a sport is slick and glamorous we are trying to get new players started and don't want them to feel intimidated. Its very hard to describe what it is about #54 that makes it have a welcoming feel # 141 I like how the logo is included. I still feel it is a little too busy with lots of different polo images included. Less is more! #78 Too much info included - especially down the bottom. You could comfortably lose the bottom section above the footer and improve this page a lot. I dn't like the grey diagonal stripe background. I think white is fine as it is clean. Designs by SGD - are good but not wow. I think it is becuase of the big photo that is then hidden behind the text window. I understand the feel you were going for butI like to see my photos in their entirety. Hope this feedback helps.
