Logo Design Contest
Logo design
- holder:
Scott

Brand Name
Commando Fit
Short Description
Looking for a new logo for our fledgling business. It is going to be physical training run by elite ex-British Royal Marine Commandos physical training instructors.
Long Description
As ex-serving British Royal Marine Commandos (RM), we are about to set up a company called 'Commando Fit'. We will be wearing our uniform (British camouflage) including our coveted Green Berets. The RM logo is the Globe and Laurel, but the symbol associated with us is the Commando Dagger. As PTI's (Physical Training Instructors) the emblem is the globe and laurel with 2 crossed 'Indian Clubs' in the background (like elongated skittles) and the latin "mens sana in corpore sano" underneath.
We are not sure which mix is best for this new fledgling business and want a new professional logo. It must spell elitism (as that is what the RM are) and not thuggism (maybe having Commando daggers isn't the best PC thing now a days?).
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
I Don't Like
People to think we are less than elite, are promoting violence in any way and that they are going to be thrashed senseless as we try and make them mini Royal Marines!
This will be a significant challenge to the majority of people and we want to encourage them to have a go, not that they have no chance.
I Like
The fact the (as best we know) the RM Globe and Laurel isn't copyrighted, it would be great to use this, but not critical. The cap badges we have in our berets are this emblem.
The Commando Dagger is cool but we don't want it to be misconstrued. We think it is universally known to be associated with commandos so needs very little explanation.
The PTI logo is good, but I would like to think we could have something new and more up to date. We do like the latin moto under it though.
Payment Notes
This contest is Pre-Paid.
Currently designerholic is paying via Paypal and Money Bookers only. We may add more providers in the future. Money will be allocated to the winning designers Designerholic account at handover.

6 months ago: Hi all.
I'm loving the logo by fuzzyllama as the gauntlet is synonymous with old world power/challenge/knights etc. However I don't want to think this will be less appealing to the women and I'm not sure whether they might be put off by this? I really like it though, maybe with a kettlebell rather than a dumbbell, as this is more akin to what we use.
The one done by mathzowie is good for the 'being more acceptable to women' thing I just mentioned, but its too non specific for what I'm after. It needs to be 'elite', 'challenge', 'difficult but not impossible' if you get my drift?
If you google the Royal Marines and have a read about the sorts of things we get up to and the logo/emblem and cap badge there is an elite'ness' about it all. I know that might not be 'women friendly' either which is why we need your magic to create a new design for us.
We tend to utilise 'odd' lifting techniques ie Kettlebells, Indian Clubs, Tyres, Ropes etc so this might steer you a little.
But guys, really liking these thank you so much.

6 months ago: fuzzyllama - liking this now, thank you.
estrois - this is a really nice angle on a new logo. I think this works very nicely.
I wonder what you guys would come up with if it was Commando Experience rather than Commando Fit?

6 months ago: Hi Scott! Tip no 2: You can give each individual entry a star rating from 1 to 5. 1 meaning way off, to 5 meaning its one of the winning designs. Simply hover over the light gray stars in the bottom right of each design box, and click on the number of stars you want to rate that design. This helps the designers know how close they are to a winning design.

6 months ago: Ok guys,
Estrois, we have looked at your and like this a lot as it works so well as a badge on our uniforms. What would you change if anything if this was now called 'Commando Experience'? We have been approached to be providers of not just fitness but team building for corporates too now.
fuzzyllama, we're liking yours too as it has the commando daggers in there. This is a great symbol for what we are. Not sure if there should only be one though? It could look to the uninitiated like swords and we would hate to be misunderstood as normal Army people;-)
As I said guys, this has changed a little over the last couple of days as people are now wanting us to coach them in leadership and management, team building and fitness. So we are going to have to appeal to both the fitness guys and the corporates. Nothing stopping us using two logos on the web site I suppose, but we do need to appeal to suits as well sweats.
