General Help


Are all contests guaranteed?
At designerholic, all our contests are prepaid, and we are striving to get a balance between being fair to the designers, but also practical for Contest Holders. So at this time, we are guaranteeing all contests when they meet the following criteria:

  • The contest must have designs from at least 5 different designers.
  • The contest must have at least 15 entries

If a contest doesn't meet these requirements, the Contest Holder still may choose a winner if they like one of the designs, so a contest is also guaranteed when:

  • The contest holder has chosen a 5 star entry - even if the above conditions are NOT met.

How do I add files to my brief?
The contest can only add files to their brief once their contest is paid for. Once you have paid for your contest, simply go to your contest page, and you will see a green 'edit' tab at the top of the page under the words 'Contest Brief'. Once you click on the edit tab, at the bottom of your brief you will see the area where you can upload files for the designers, or delete any files you have added that are no longer needed.

How do I increase my feedback percent?
Each contest has a feedback rating on the contest listing page. To increase the feedback of your own contest, you will need to login, and give star ratings to each design, and also private feedback to the designers.

How do I pick a design as the winner?
Once you are happy with choosing an entry as a winner, click on the entry to open up a page that lists designs in your contest by that designer. Then click on the orange icon in the upper left hand corner of the entry. Don't forget to choose second and third prize while you are there (helps with the ranking of the designers).

What if the designer gives me incorrect or faulty designs at handover?
You have 6 days after the designer gives you your design files to check over them and make sure they are correct and of the quality you were expecting. If you think that the design is not what you paid for, please try to sort it out with the designer directly in those 6 days - they want to get paid for their work so they will do their best to please you. But if you are still unhappy with your design source, please email support at designerholic.com with your name and contest title, and we will do our best to sort it out. Or contact us via our contact form. We will then hold off payment to the designer until the issue is resolved.

How do I give star ratings?
In your contest page, the stars can be found in grey directly under the entries. If you are logged in, simply click the amount of stars you would like to award the designer out of 5.
NOTE:
You must be logged in to give a star rating
You can only give a star rating for entries in your own contest
Giving star ratings helps to increase your feedback.

What are the orange and blue exclamation marks on top of each entry?
The orange exclamation mark means the designer of that entry has made a private comment that he/she would like you to see. If the exclamation mark is blue, it means there is currently no comment for you to read relating to that entry. But by clicking on either of the exclamation marks, you can also post a private comment to the designer of the entry. How can I give private feedback to a designer?
You can give private feedback by following these steps:

  1. Login. (You must Login before you can add a comment)
  2. Click on the blue or orange exclamation mark at the top of the entry you would like to comment on. This will take you to the private comments page.
  3. To give a comment on an individual design, click on the exclamation mark icon at the top of the entry you would like to comment on. Or, to give a comment to the designer privately but perhaps not in relation to a specific design, you simply scroll down the page until you find the section 'post a comment'.

Comments in this section can only be seen by the Contest Holder and the designer him/herself.

Help for designers


How are designers paid?
Every contest is pre-paid by designerholic. Once your design is chosen as winner, the sooner you get your design source to the contest holder, the sooner you get paid. We allow the contest holder 7 days after receiving your files to check over the design you have given them. After the 7 days, you will need to make a withdrawal request from your account, and you will be paid on designerholics next payout day - which occurs weekly.

With what payment methods are you currently paying designers?
We are currently paying designers via PayPal and Moneybookers. Please note that Payments via PayPal are free, however Moneybookers charge money to use their service, and the transaction fee will be deducted from your withdrawal amount.

Can the Contest Holder see my designs in Full Size?
Yes. While we have restricted the size of the hover preview for every-one else to prevent copying, only the Contest Holder can see the hover preview, and your design in full screen.

Why do I have to wait 7 days after handover to receive my money?
We are really sorry about this, but it is the only way we can make sure that designers dont give the contest holder the incorrect designs at handover, and then disappear. We know it is very unlikely but it does happen! This allows the Contest Holder 7 days to check that the designs are what they chose as the winning design. We may shorten this timeframe in the future.
